Let's PAR-TAY!

Yesterday, we had Kailtin's fifth birthday party. It was so fun! Check out the invitaion here. In March, Kaitlin decided to have a 'digging' party. I wanted to do an archaeologist themed party, but archaeologists study civilizations... I didn't want small children digging up human remains, so we changed the theme to a paleontologist theme. We painted fossils (frosted dinosaur shaped sugar cookies), mapped bone structure (did dot-to-dot pictures), went on a search for the excavation site (sang 'walk in the jungle' while walking to designated area), dug up ancient dinosaur eggs (candy filled plastic eggs buried in a sandbox), hatched eggs (dissolved dinosaur capsules in ward water) and studied soil (ate dirt cake). All the kids love being a part of the excavation.
Balloons for the mailbox (people still got lost)- $9.00
Finding shovels in the off-season- $13.50
550 lbs. (quite literally) sandbox sand- $60
Cleaning up after a vomiting child at 2 a.m because of a sugar and 'dirt cake' overdose- priceless.

p.s.- I grant permission to anyone who wants to copy this fun idea. Just don't overdo it on the sugar...

I love dirt cake! Such a fun idea!!

I read through your blog and can't believe that someone would steel election signs. That was JUST on the news tonight. One man was so fed up with it that he put up a night vision camera! I agree--just because you don't agree with the person/issue doesn't mean you take down someone's signs! Sheesh.

Thanks for stopping by my blog from SITS!

OK...that would be "steal" not "steel".

Can you believe that I used to teach English Comp?

Sounds like a great time was had by all... minus the little sugar od of course.
We are making a dirt & worm cake for a Halloween shindig for the mini-diva, it will be our first- I guess my girls are just too girly to have wanted it before.
Great idea for a party!

What a fantastic idea. Cept I think it'd be cool to dig up "human" bones. Just kidding...or am I?

Kids went to Halloween party on Friday. They had the pudding dirt thing and the kids ate every last drop!

Kaia has thrown up at disneyland, mexico, pretty much every vacation that we have been on...too much candy she says....We cannot mention churros without her gagging {from Disneyland} and when asked why she thought she threw up at the resort in Mexico...she said there was an unlimited amount of marshmellows at the kids club and she couldn't stop eating them! As she has gotten older, she recognizes what sugar OD does to her and now stops herself! It will come, Stephanie...Kaitlin is a little Kaia!

I'm sorry we didn't make it! Looks like it was a ton of fun! Poor Kaitlin...but throwing up on your birthday means you had the most fun day ever, right? Just have a bowl ready for 2am Halloween night!

Was the vomiting child my dearest niece, if so that girl has bear blood in her and needs to hold her sugar better.....shame on you mom for not acclimating her to proper sugar intake. snuggles, JIM
